Investigating the Effect of Sleep Deprivation on Selected Functional and Cognitive Indicators of Male Frisbee Athletes

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of sleep deprivation on selected functional and cognitive indicators of male frisbee athletes that was conducted as a cross over and field trial on 15 male athletes of Ultimate Frisbee re. Subjects were selected purposefully and were randomly divided into 3 groups of 5 people. All subjects entered the dormitory between 22:00 and 23:00 and the test of all subjects was conducted at 8 am. According to the determination of sleepless times (1-25-21), each group experienced one of the sleepless hours in separate rooms based on a lottery, and in the next 2 sessions, the groups were changed, and at the end of the 3 sessions, all the subjects experienced 1-21-25 hours of sleepless. The Wechsler test was used to measure the cognitive factors, agility was measured with Illinois test, Sargent jump test was used for power, accuracy or concentration factor was measured with the frisbee accuracy throwing test. In order to check the normality of the data distribution, the Shapiro-Wilk test was used and analysis of variance test and Tukey's post hoc test was used to data analysis. The results showed that there were differences between the three groups during sleepless hours, power, agility, throwing accuracy, intelligence and with the increase in the duration of sleepless, the amount of motor and cognitive performance decreases.It seems that the duration of sleepless has effect on the motor performance and cognitive ability of Frisbee athletes.
