Investigating the effect of the parents' knowledge promotion program on the parent-child relationship of adolescent football players

Abstract
It is important to pay attention to the importance of parent-child communication in shaping the sports experiences of young athletes, to examine the relationship between parents in youth sports and to discover ways through which parents can strengthen their relationship with their children in such situations. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of the parents' knowledge promotion program on the parent-child relationship of adolescent football players. The current research was an action research study with pre-test-post-test stages. This research was carried out according to the needs of parents of adolescent football players. 35 parents and 22 male adolescent athletes from a specialized football academy who participated in the premier league of Isfahan cities were selected as participants. The data collection tool was the Parent-Child Relationship Assessment Questionnaire (PCRS). Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The findings show that the multivariate analysis for the effect of time as a result of the parents' knowledge promotion program on parent-child relationships of adolescent football players was significant (p<0.001). These findings show that the changes in the scores of all four times of the test during the parents' knowledge promotion program have shown a significant difference. The findings of the present research, in line with the previous researches, have determined that the effect of the training of the parents' knowledge promotion program has led to the strengthening of the parent-child relationship of the adolescent football players.
