Abstract
People's personality traits, including introversion and extroversion, can greatly impact people's cognitive and motor skills. Considering the importance of visual skills in career environment and motor performance, the purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of introverted and extroverted personality types on visual memory and visual tracking. The participants were 102 students of Tehran University with an average age of 24.6 ± 5.2. After completing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, they were divided into two groups of introverts (n=51) and extroverts (n=51). Then, the participants of each group performed visual memory tests (VISGED-S11) and visual tracking (LVT-S3) of the Vienna system. The results of the independent t-test showed that the visual memory of introverts is significantly better than that of extroverts (P=0.018). However, no significant difference was observed between introverts and extroverts in visual tracking (P>0.05). Therefore, according to the importance of visual memory in the overall performance of people and especially in the career environment, the better performance of introverts in the visual memory may act as a suitable predictor of the level of job success and safe behavior in them. Also, the results can moderate the negative views towards introverted personality in work environments.
