Abstract
Children with developmental coordination disorder suffer from weakening visual perception skills. In this case, it has been shown that performing fine motor activities can help improve children's visual perception skills. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of the effect of the sport stacking training on visual perception skills of girls with developmental coordination disorder. In this semi-experimental research, which was carried out with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group, 24 girls with developmental coordination disorder in Tehran, with an age range of 7 to 9 years, were selected in a targeted manner based on the entry criteria, and were divided into two groups of the sport stacking training and control. In the pre-test phase, the participants completed Frostig's visual perception questionnaire. The intervention phase was conducted in eight weeks and five consecutive sessions each week and each session lasted 30 minutes, and the participants performed the relevant exercises. In the control group, they were doing their daily activities. After the training phase, the post-test phase was conducted, where the participants completed the Frostig visual perception questionnaire as in the pre-test phase. The data were analyzed by multivariate covariance analysis. The results indicated that the sport stacking training has a significant effect on improving the visual perception skills of girls with developmental coordination disorder (P<0.05). In general, the results of the current research emphasize the importance of the sport stacking training in improving the visual perception skills of girls with developmental coordination disorder.
