Abstract
Social capital is important for people's health. exercise is important for the correct performance of individual, family and social roles. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between social capital and physical activity and exercise among the citizens of Kashan city.

This research is a survey study and questionnaire technique was used to collect research data. All citizens of Kashan city constitute the statistical population of the research. The sample size was calculated based on Cochran's formula. In this research, the Onix and Bullen (2000) questionnaire was used to measure the social capital status of citizens as an independent variable of Nahapit and Ghoshal's (1998) research in three cognitive, relational and structural dimensions. Also, to increase the validity and accuracy in measuring the concept of social capital, some items of Shiri et al.'s (2014: 67 and 68) research were also used.

The results showed that social capital is related to physical activity and exercise, which indicates a significant and positive relationship between social capital and the level of physical activity of citizens. The results also showed that the intensity of the correlation of the cognitive dimension of social capital is greater than its communicative and structural dimensions.

Officials and agents of urban communities can take an effective step in expanding social capital by properly planning for its development in order to increase the cohesion, unity and solidarity of the individuals forming the society and improve the quality of social life, increase social trust, etc.
