Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship exercise and physical activity with suicide-related actions in students. For this purpose, 348 volunteers with an age range of 23.32±5.46 years were selected from Kashan of University. In order to measure the variable of suicide attempt and physical activity of students, the shortened form of the questionnaire (SBQ-R) and the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire were used, respectively. In this study, two-way analysis of variance was used to investigate the effect of two factors, physical activity and exercise participation, on students' suicide attempts. Pearson's correlation coefficient was also used to investigate the relationship between exercise participation, physical activity and suicide attempts. The results of Pearson's correlation coefficient indicate a significant and negative relationship between the amount of exercise participation and the amount of physical activity of students with suicide attempts. Meanwhile, the intensity of correlation between the amount of physical activity and suicide attempt with r= -0.233 was higher than the intensity of correlation between exercise participation and suicide attempt with r=-0.125.  Considering the importance of preventive methods and solutions due to the high frequency of suicide and suicide action among young people compared to other age groups, regular exercise and physical activity are the best, most economical, easiest and most effective methods compared to other methods. The most useful way to reduce anxiety and depression and other mental disorders that lead to suicide and should be considered as a treatment and preventive solution in different age groups, especially young people.
