Abstract
This study aimed to compare the social and academic adjustment of athletes and non-athletes’ children. The statistical population of this research was made up of all male students of the fourth to sixth grade of primary schools in Ardabil in the academic year of 2019-2020. The statistical sample of 120 students (60 athletes and 60 non-athletes) was selected as an accessible sample. In this research, Bell's adjustment questionnaire was used to measure the social and academic adjustment of children. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to determine the normality of the data and the independent t-test was utilized to test the research hypotheses at a significance level of less than 0.05.The analysis of the research data showed that there is a significant difference in social and academic adjustment between athletes and non-athlete’s children (P=0.001), and the level of social adjustment and the academic performance of athletes was better than non-athletes. Therefore, it is concluded that regular and continuous physical activity could improve social and academic adjustment scores in children.
