Abstract
Negative perfectionism means setting personal standards at a very high level, which affects people's mental health, relationships and performance. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between perfectionism and exercise addiction and and fear of body imag in female athletes. The current research was a descriptive and correlational research. The statistical population of the research was the women who participated in the sports programs of sports clubs in Yazd city, and 114 of them were selected as a statistical sample in convenient method. In this research, the multidimensional perfectionism scale questionnaire (Hoyt and Felt, 1991), the exercise addiction checklist of Sazebou and Griffiths (2004) and the fear of body image questionnaire of Littleton et al. (2005) were used. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test were used to check data normality and Pearson correlation coefficient. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between perfectionism and exercise addiction (r=0.53, p=0.01) and fear of body image (r=0.36, p=0.01) in female athletes. According to the results, it is suggested that coaches consider perfectionism in determining the goals of athletes.
