Abstract
One of the primary goals of every athlete is to achieve optimal performance during competitions. A modern and increasingly popular method for enhancing athletic performance is the use of biofeedback training. In the present study, biofeedback exercises were executed in a standardized manner on a group of badminton players, and their effects on respiration and arousal were assessed. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design. The participants in this study were skilled badminton players from the provincial team and badminton leagues. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling method, and participants were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Arousal levels were measured based on skin temperature using the ProComp 2 device, and respiration was assessed through current breathing measurements. The experimental group underwent 10 sessions of biofeedback training, starting with breathing exercises, followed by the addition of heart rate training, while the control group continued their routine exercises. The results of the covariance analysis indicated that biofeedback training enhances the skin temperature of badminton players and improves the psychosocial indicators of sympathetic activity, leading to more optimal arousal levels (skin temperature). Additionally, respiration improved through biofeedback exercises. The findings of this study suggest that conducting biofeedback training interventions over 10 sessions, each lasting 30 minutes, may increase the success of badminton players and lead to their conscious regulation of arousal. These findings open new avenues for enhancing athletes in this field, and further confirmatory studies are needed.
