Abstract
The aim of the present research was the effect of hopping exercises on improving the speed of dribbling skills and metacognitive knowledge of Turkish football school kids.30 boys in Ankara were selected in the age range of 7-10. This semi-experimental research was conducted with a pre-test and post-test design in 2 control and hopping training groups. For metacognitive characteristics, a questionnaire (MCQ-C) was used. For the football dribble test, the level of skill in football was measured based on indicators such as the number of steps taken between each contact with the ball, the position of the head and eyes, the position of the ball and the speed of movement. The score ranges from 0 to 16.10 to 16 indicate the appropriateness of football dribbling ability. The 8-week program of hopping includes hopping to the sides, forward and backward, with forward movement, in a square shape, in a zigzag shape, and in the figure of 8 (13-15)The subjects rest for 2 minutes between each exercise(16).The exercise consists of 3 sessions per week with a training volume of 70 to 130 foot contact with the ground(17-18)According to the previous research, the speed of the exercise is 2 Hz, which was done by a rhythm metronome. Covariance test was used to test the hypotheses and the results were analyzed with SPSS version 21.results showed that 8 weeks of hopping practice improved soccer dribbling and metacognitive skills of kids in the experimental group (p<0.05) and no significant difference was seen in the control group (p>0.05)
