Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the developmental status of elementary school students during the outbreak of Covid-19 disease. Methodology: The population of the present study was elementary school students and the research samples included 500 elementary school students in Karaj who were selected as available and purposeful samples (from three parts of the city with different economic status). To measure growth indices, measurements of height, weight and body mass index of students were used. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the collected data. Results: The results show that the weight status of students during the outbreak of Covid-19 had a high growth that also affected the body mass index. Conclusion: The prevalence of Covid-19 disease and weight gain of students show that the physical activity status of students has decreased, as a result of which body mass indexes show that more students are overweight than before. Continuation of this process and weight gain and inactivity of students can cause changes in physical literacy and basic patterns of movement such as walking, etc. and it is necessary to resume physical activity during the quarantine of students in accordance with health protocols.
