Abstract
The aim of this study was to classify the masculinity of some sports from perspective of Iran society and then investigate the attitude of female players (in the selected sport having maximum masculinity) towards their gender role. The masculinity was obtained from the questionnaire with α= 0.89 base on a 5-point range Likert. Then 300 voluntary people familiar with the sports filled the questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Friedman test and followed up with Wilcoxon at the p<0.05 level. Soccer with the mean rank of 12.22 and Aerobics with 2.50 were gain the highest and lowest masculinity respectively. Rugby took the second place of masculinity with the mean rank of 11.61. Then, to investigate the attitude of female soccer players towards their gender role, 130 female soccer players in the League completed the Bem Sex Role Questionnaire. The results showed that the attitude of most of the female soccer players towards their gender role is both androgynous and masculine. It seems that masculine and androgynous individuals can perform more successfully in masculine sports.
